FBI Arrests Man Possibly Associated With Capitol Riot

Man possibly associated with January 2021 capitol riot arrested

The FBI has arrested Glenn Brooks, a remodeling business owner from the City of Huntington Beach, in relation to the recent Capitol riot. It is the selfie at the riot location that he messaged to his church choir group members that landed Brooks in federal trouble. One of Brooks’ choir group members tipped federal officials in January 2021 after the man shared his photograph amid a group that forcibly entered the building.

The photograph shows Brooks sporting a white-colored beard as well as clad in a red jacket and a beanie with a US flag. The Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that Brooks climbed through a damaged window to enter the Capitol’s Senate side. Then, Brooks was recorded with a mobile phone at the time of capturing photographs.

A recent criminal complaint accuses Brooks of illegal entry into the restricted property and disorderly behavior there. Brooks was apprehended a few days ago, and then he appeared in the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building for the first time.

As per court documentation, investigators compared the photographs from the accused to the pictures captured in the recent riot while confirming that both have the same individual. FBI agents doing surveillance in late March saw Brooks leaving a truck-related to Brooks Works, his remodeling business. Therefore, the agents asserted that Brooks and the one in the recent selfie is the same person.

The media could not reach Brooks or his federal representative for comment on the matter. Brooks is not the first Huntington Beach native to be charged in relation to the recent chaos at the US Capitol building. Vocal conservative Mark Simon was also arrested after the Huntington Beach citizen recounted his experience of this incident.

Some of the individuals charged in relation to the riot are Californians. Some, such as a man from Irvine who wore a helmet with the term PRESS and a vest, face charges like the ones filed against Glenn Brooks. On the other hand, the rest of the Californians are facing more serious accusations.

Law enforcement arrested Kevin Gelatto due to the latter being suspected of attacking officers in the recent incident. Gelatto was spotted in federal surveillance footage as he was trying to go past a police line.

Even Alan Hostetter, an ex-chief of La Habra Police Department, is charged with political conspiracy for the alleged part he played in the incident. Hostetter is thought to have coordinated with five other people who planned on storming the US Capitol.
